I changed the date to April 26th. (Sorry for the change in schedule. My husband is Greek Orthodox, and we'll be celebrating Easter on April 19th, which makes it hard for me to plan another event on the same day.) Hope you can still make it on the 26th!
We'll be studying John 5 or 6. I'll bring xerox copies, so don't worry about bringing your Bible!
_Below is info if you're new -- some ground rules to help the conversation flow____
People interested to study the Bible come from so many different backgrounds. The main thing we have in common is an interest in Scripture. Therefore, let's look at the text in the Gospel of John. All you need is an interest to read and discuss the Gospel of John and a willingness to respect a few ground rules:
-- a sincere interest in the text
-- equal time to everyone who wants to share their opinions (please self-monitor to make sure you don't dominate the conversation )
-- respect for others' interpretations
-- openess to looking solely at the text with no references to commentaries of scholars/preachers; please do not make copies of other peoples'/scholars' interpretations to pass around or read aloud to the group the interpretation in your Bible. Just read the text for yourself and formulate your own thoughts about it
-- feel okay about not making this a prayer time
-- save research (like extensive cross-referencing) for after the study and share your findings (verbally) the beginning of the next study.
-- We'll try to keep a good pace of reading, sharing, reading further, sharing further . . .
-- Please refrain from ordering alcohol as we might have recovering alcoholics join the study
I'll provide copies of the text. You don't have to bring a Bible.
Hope to see you!!!
